This work is the second installment of the Prosthesis Series. To maintain a visual odyssey through eighty distinct moments, the viewer is compelled to click the mouse incessantly. These images are sourced from standardized, high-quality commercial stock libraries—representing "sublimity" with a clear price tag and "spectacles" manufactured in bulk. Similarly, the background music is curated from the most trendy, "high-purity" romantic tropes currently saturating streaming platforms.
My intention is to cultivate a tension between the physical cramping of the finger and the infinitude of the spectacle. Here, the so-called "sublime" and "dramatic" are flattened by the filter of romanticism, and the viewer's autonomy is hijacked by the mechanical act of clicking. This is both a conditioning of curiosity and a hypocritical exploitation of attention.
The essence of the mouse lies in its absolute measurement of physical space (DPI) and its absolute precision within the digital realm. This promise of certainty is masterfully designed to ensnare humans who crave "clarity." When we "shake hands" with the mouse, we quietly complete our submission to digital indoctrination through this very will to convert intention into precise, verified action.
